The Shower Team will be creating a shower structure for The Mudskipper’s Urban Decay 2010 Cafe. Creative input is valued!
The theme for our bathing apparatus is a run down spa, once labeled ‘Healing Waters.’ Abandoned during whatever disaster caused our urban decay, the spa took on a new look and a new name: Toxic Waters.
Donations: Anything that contributes to a run down spa look. Plastic fish with x’s painted over their eyes. Yellow ‘caution’ tape. Searching for a female mannequin that can be painted up like a cheap whore on Good Friday. Terry Cloth. PVC Piping. Rope and rebar to tether this bitch of a bath down. Let your freaky imagination run wild and dig through your props. Let’s make the showers a truly terrifying experiences!
Building Materials: Wood, Loading Crates, PVC Piping, Rope, Rebar
Decorations: Mannequin, Bath Toys, Caution Tape, Parking Cones, Stripped Rope Tassels, Anything else my Brilliant team can come up with to add to the freaky-deaky atmosphere!
Volunteers will need to dedicate at least 4 Saturdays to planning, purchasing / acquiring materials and building the structure and decorations. Plan on helping put the structure up and / or taking it down on the playa.

I’m Clay, and this’ll be my first foray to Burning Man. After hearing about and seeing pictures of my dear friend Adam Killian’s experience, I decided I have to be a part of this. In the mundane world, I manage real estate development projects, and spend too much time listening to NPR. But I am also a collector of life experiences and am interested in just about everything. Bird is atwitter to wing to BRC for his second burn. The invitation to nest at Mudskipper Café assures the 2,459-mile migration to the playa will be a welcome homecoming – thank you my amphibious friends. Root beer floats, potluck dinners, creative companionship, playa dust – what more could an avian ask for? Bird eagerly flocks with the Decoration & Shower Teams and will wholeheartedly flit over to any other Mudskipper in need of assistance or cheerful camaraderie. Bird flies side-by-side with Duke and together they seek next inspired adventure. (Apparently Bird writes in third-person too.) Anticipating the journey…

Duke is delighted to join the Mudskippers for 2010 and considers it a serendipitous liaison since he enjoys mud AND skipping so equally.He works and plays at a professional theatre in the foothills of the Blue Ridge in western North Carolina as Resident Creative. As actor, musician, foam sculptor, textile maven, taxidermist… Duke is grateful that his means of livelihood is rarely boring or without creative challenges—not entirely unlike life at his playa home—just with less dust and nudity. Slightly. In his copious free time he enjoys playing his upright bass [Myrna Loy], howling at the moon, and writing about himself in third-person. He returns to BRC for his second Burn with his partner of nearly 18 years, the eponymous Bird, of Dukenbird.
